Eugene, Oregon

In Eugene, people love to talk.  There is always something to say when it comes to "Ultimate Truth," the purpose of life, and socio-political beliefs.  There are the godless and the obsessive "Jesus-Freaks."  There are people who consider everything a conspiracy, and those that think life is happy as a clam.

There was so much talking in Eugene, I didn't have time to find "natural" (aka, non-human) sounds!

 Description of Sounds:

1.) An aural walk/don't walk sign
This was a first for me, so I had to record it.  I thought it was awesome in Salt Lake City that the walk/don't walk signs make little birdie sounds.  The signs in Eugene, Oregon actually talk to you!  I didn't realize until it was too late, that every time I pressed the walk button, cars had to stop at the resulting red light, and watch me record.  I guess they've seen weirder.

2.) The inadequacies of the university library
Upon walking into the Quad at University of Oregon, a man begins talking to me about the books at the university library.  Apparently he's not a student; any resident of Eugene with a city library card may use the University Library as well.

3.)  Oregon State Univ. Elections with Street Preacher
After the quad, I heard some commotion coming from the east.  Looks like it's around lunch time, which (as someone said) "brings out the crazies."  The students at the University seem apathetic towards loud street preachers along with the upcoming student body election campaign.  After asking a student about the preacher, I learned that he was there every day around lunch time for 2 to 3 hours at a time.

4.)  Discussion about Jesus with a Street Preacher
I'm not so good at interviewing someone.  One thing I've learned is, short simple questions are generally better than long detailed ones.  This clip involved me asking simple questions relating to the history of the christian (and/or pagan) beliefs, with answers the flowed out like water.

5.)  Discussion about Atheism
The atheists have it all figured out apparently.  Of course in the battle between "god" and "science," Occam's razor cannot distinguish between either - there is no simple answer for the 'truth.'
